Shop Talk / Re: What are you driving these days?
« Last post by SpaceMonkey on October 24, 2021, 09:16:40 pm »
Until next May, I drive a 2018 Mazda 6. It's the best car I have ever driven. And I have owned BMWs. This Mazda is so powerful, comfortable, and excellent in every way for a lease price (zero down) of only $335 a month. I'd love to buy it, but we'll see.

My mom and dad died horrible deaths of COVID last summer and left a 2013 Dodge Avenger. It only has 20,000 miles on it. It's now in my possession in Charlotte from Detroit and I will buy my bro and sis out of their thirds on the car. It's a sweet little whipper-snapper of a car. So, I have two cars now (which I rather hate having two cars. The idea was to give the car to my 16-year-old son, but he's afraid to drive as he has anxiety issues.) I may end up selling car. Who knows?

Ogre, I don't know what a "2019 Chevy Colorado ZR2" is, but it sounds sweet!

You know, Silver and I make the balls/chin joke often at each other, but I think he forgets when I first told him about that gag:

My older brother was/is smarter and funnier than I. He's super sarcastic and I always looked up to him to get his approval. Yet, he always had the best way to shut me down with an insult.

In high school, I'd say, "Hey, Brad! I got an A++ on my math test to day!" He'd dryly say, "Really. Come here." Then he'd scratch under my chin and say, "My balls itch."

Thank you, Ogre,

I sincerely appreciate that you keep this place running; even if I don't check in much anymore.

A funny thing is, I still remember my password, which I used here from the Maxim Pad. It's a jumble of numbers and letters that Maxim gave me, like 8n4E7f. JUst shit, but I still remember it, so I guess I don't have dementia yet.

I hope you are well, Ogre.

Slakr, that sounds crazy. I'm sorry that you went through that, icicle balls.

One time, I was flying back from Los Angeles to Detroit and we were over Las Vegas. The pilot comes on the air and says, "I have some bad news for you folks, we just lost power to one of our engines. We're turning back to Los Angeles."

I freaked! My brother's friend had just been killed in a Chicago to Pittsburgh plane crash. I look out my window and what looked like smoke was coming out of the wing. No -- I found out 2 things later: 1) the pilot was dumping fuel so the plane could land lighter. Plans cannot land on full tanks unless landing into the Twin Towers; 2) A passenger plane can fly on one engine of their 4 engines, so we weren't in any real danger.

We could not get on another flight that afternoon, so on the airline's dime they put me and my buddy in a hotel for the night for a flight the next day. Then my buddy and I walked to a titty bar and drank and looked at b00bs.

End of story: Whenever something even remotely weird happens to you on a flight, write a letter to customer service to complain and scan your tickets with the note. They will send you hundreds of dollars in vouchers for future flights. I complained that the piolot scared the breakfast out of me simply by saying, "We have bad news for you folks." I got a $200.00 voucher just for writing a letter. This was back in 1991, however.

Facebook killed all of our little "mom and pops" online communities (like Jeff's) the same way Wal-Mart killed small retail stores.

How come big biz has to ruin all the fun?

Answer: Money.

PS: I hope all of you fools are doing well. Peace!
