Amtrak Crash
« on: May 13, 2015, 03:10:43 pm »
Amtrak train 188 was traveling from D.C. To N.Y.C at 106 MPH before the emergency brake was pulled going around a bend near northeast Philadelphia. 7 cars derailed and became mangled killing at least 7, injuring over 150. Apparently the engineer survived and will have some explaining to do.

Sure, especially if you have never been to Pittsburgh. Downtown has a lot going on, especially in the summer. Great restaurants, bars, entertainment, gambling, sports, art and museums, etc. What are you looking to do and how long will you be in town?

We rented a cabin in Ohio, there is plenty of stuff to do there, so if we make the trek to Pitts, may just be a few hours, then head back to cabin

Just was wondering if there is anything worth seeing for the drive.

Best city skyline IMO, plus we have bars and titty bars and a nice casino along the river. If you want a break from the country and you're not far, and never been, I think you'll like spending a few hours in the burgh.

we stayed in pittsburgh on our way to vacation.  i got flatlander pissed because i could see the holiday inn we were spending the night in on top of a hill just off the highway.  I exit and turn toword the hotel and the damn road would veer off in a different direction. I turn toword it again and the road twists off another way.  finally, i had to get my phone out and google map the hotel that I AM STARING AT a half mile over there just to figure out where the fuckin driveway is.  Fuck your hilly piece of shit road system.

The way that is written, you are saying that Pittsburgh's skyline is better than Chicago's.  Dumbass.  Would smite you if I could.

tried to.  but i felt that the gate fee was to high. "12 years old and under get in for half price" still didn't reflect a value i thought my kids would walk away feeling like it was worthwhile.  besides, i peeked around the corner and the afternoon stripper staff was mostly grandmas and crack heads.  might have been better when the baller hoes punch in.

Ha!

When I was in Phoenix, my sister and I walked thru a parking lot, passing by a strip club..all the "dancers" were in their thongs outside waiting for the door to open.

My sis had to tug and push me to get me walking faster..then she called me a perv

Laker, when you were in Pittsburgh, what Holiday Inn did you stay at? Was it downtown or by the airport? Some on/off ramps off the parkway west (between the fort Pitt tunnels and the airport) are fucking weird and misleading. Especially since they are always fixing and changing them.

Silver that is the best skyline shot you will ever get from Chicago. Here is an average shot of Pittsburgh.

That is a nice photoshopped skyline, Im pretty sure the city of Pittsburgh is purple

Chicago's skyline is way too big to fit in one image, it goes for miles

You dont even see Navy Pier in the shots

monroeville off the toll road.  i got onto the Penn, tried to double back on the Pike...

In MI, roads are basically straight.  If you can see where you want to go, or know the general direction, you can get there 99% of the time.  But in hill country, seems like roads follow the contour of the land when possible --- you need personal knowledge of where the road really goes. Here shortcuts might save/cost you 5 min.  There if you are wrong or guessing about your "shortcut" you could end up an hour in the wrong direction.
