anybody here ever work as a teller?
« on: July 21, 2017, 11:45:35 am »
I cash my checks from work often.   2 reasons: I don't want to pay tax and I don't want to start work on a project and find out its a bad check.

The tellers give me static about cashing checks, especially large ones.  They try to think of excuses, like one time they said the color of the check did not match the previous checks ???

This is a first:  "I cannot cash this because the penmanship on check is different."    The owner wrote a check and left the name and date option blank, so I filed it in.

Is this a valid reason?

No, it's not but it's she can claim that it is.  Try talking to a manager.  The only thing that matters is the signature.  The rest of the check can be written in any logo/form whatever.

You can deposit in an ATM and get around it. Tellers don't like to cash checks because that means they have more work to do.

My Money and Banking professor in college was a retired banking exec from what is now BB&T. He bet us he could CARVE the necessary information into a WATERMELON and the bank would have to cash it.

He won the bet.

All that is required is the payee, date, routing number, account number, signature, and amount in both spots.  This could have changed post 9-11 though.

She was Mexican.  I had a feeling she was going to be a pain when I walked up.

Tellers don't make much money.  She was probably enjoying the small amount of authority she has.

I mostly do online banking, because my checking and saving account are with a credit union I opened a long time ago, when I first moved down to the D.C. area. When I have gone into the building or through the drive through I have interacted with all ethnicities as tellers, including African American. They were always very nice and helpful. I've had accounts at other banks in D.C. and in PA, and I've closed them all because of shitty service. I recommend a credit union over any bank.

I got a cashier's check from Bank of America yesterday. My teller was a gay Mexican faggot.
